Mkomazi National Park, located in northeastern Tanzania near the Kenyan border, is a hidden gem of the northern safari circuit. Covering approximately 3,230 km², it is a semi-arid sanctuary dedicated to the conservation of endangered species and the preservation of unique dryland ecosystems. The wet season (November to May) transforms Mkomazi into a green oasis, with seasonal rivers flowing and migratory birds arriving, offering a vibrant birdwatching experience. While wildlife disperses slightly during this time, the scenery becomes more dramatic, and the park’s remote beauty is enhanced by fewer visitors.
